Sourcing with Purpose, Not Price
Since the disruption of COVID, rebuilding stock levels has taken time. Rather than rushing to refill shelves, we made a conscious decision to replenish carefully — maintaining the standards our customers expect and rely on.
We do not buy “cheap alternatives”.
Every fabric and trimming we stock must meet strict criteria:
• suitability for Ballroom, Latin and performance wear
• consistent colour absorption and stability
• durability under movement, heat and lighting
• reliability across repeated production runs
For this reason, the majority of our core fabrics are sourced from reputable European suppliers, while our specialist polyester fabrics — including Georgette, Pearl Chiffon, Stretch Satin and Twinkle — are sourced from Japan, widely recognised as the most reliable source for these qualities worldwide.
Each product is tested before it reaches our shelves — not just in theory, but in real-world use.
Guipure Lace – Why Austria Matters
Guipure lace occupies a special place in dance costuming. It must be decorative yet stable, dramatic yet workable — enhancing design without restricting movement.
All DSI London Guipure laces are made in Austria, a country internationally recognised for producing some of the finest lace in the world.
Much like our commitment to Made in London production, sourcing Guipure lace from Austria reflects our belief that heritage craftsmanship still matters.
