Strictly: Week 2

Strictly Come Dancing saw its first elimination on Saturday and it was time to bid a sad farewell to James Cracknell. The competition is hotting up…

“Oh my goodness where has the week gone!” laughs costume designer, Vicky Gill. “For all Strictly super-fans Saturday can’t come quick enough, but for production we want as much time as possible!”

An audience favourite from last week was Anneka Rice’s gorgeous pretty-in-pink number (above). “We all agree that Anneka looked beautiful,” begins Vicky. “Blush Pink over a Cream Satin base formed the perfect canvas for the placement of delicate Chantilly lace, which was embellished with White Opal and Light Pink crystals and Gold flat-back pearls.”

Another standout was Nadiya Bychkova’s paso doble dress (above). “Nadiya’s was a personal favourite,” continues Vicky. “A contemporary pleather fringed neckline kept a modern feel on a traditional piece and Light Siam Stones covered the bodice. Interestingly we used a practice skirt, adding a ribbon hemline. Simple elegance.”
