Meet Ronan

Ronan started dancing when he was just 3 years old. From the moment he stepped on the dance floor he shined and when he tried on his first pair of tiny ballroom shoes he was hooked. From the very first time Ronan went to DSI at only 4 years old and was fitted for his first competition outfit, it was his dream to be an Elite Performer, he couldn’t be prouder to represent DSI.  Ronan became double Latin and Ballroom Under 10’s winner at Champions of Tomorrow in 2020. Ronan also became Champion of the Ballroom National League Under 10’s and Vice Champion of the Latin National League Under 10’s.

Their Lockdown Story

Ronan and Isla have used these difficult times to really develop and expand their dancing.  They have been helping to create and to perfect 10 brand new routines tailored to their strengths individually and as a couple. This has been done with the help of their wonderful teachers who even during the many lockdowns have been there for them on a zoom or WhatsApp call every day of the week.  Ronan and Isla have been so lucky to work with a variety of famous and talented teachers. They have been given some very complicated and technical routines. They have embraced the challenge and are loving learning this choreography from these stars. Ronan was so proud to have won a jive challenge set by Oti Mubuse during her first lockdown YouTube classes. She received hundreds of entries and he was over the moon to be crowned her winner.  Outside of dance Ronan has really enjoyed exploring the New Forest on his mountain bike, getting muddy and lost in the beautiful countryside. Ronan would say that the best part of the pandemic was when his new kitten Ash arrived in July, his new best friend. Isla has had great fun entering a national competition called DPDs Got Talent. She created a video showcasing a Cha Cha routine and came 2nd in the under 12 category. Isla is very artistic and in her spare time enjoys drawing and crafting. Isla would say her best part of the pandemic is moving into her new home. Ronan and Isla have also been working out and practicing together daily on zoom! It’s very cute to watch. Ronan has also been working on his gymnastics and back flips! Ronan and Isla are so honoured to represent DSI London, they can’t wait to hit the competition floor again and showcase all the wonderful designs that DSI London will create for them.
