Tailored Elegance: Redefining Modern Ballroom Couture

Some Ballroom dresses capture attention through colour. Others through embellishment. This design takes a different approach, demonstrating how contemporary tailoring can be reimagined within the graceful world of Ballroom dance.
Created for DSI Elite performer Rosie, this gown formed part of her appearance at the 2026 Blackpool Dance Festival, where she and partner David delivered outstanding performances to reach the last 24 of the Professional Ballroom Their success reflected months of dedication, precision and artistry, qualities echoed throughout every element of this distinctive design.
At first glance, the dress immediately challenges traditional expectations. The main body is crafted from Brown Suiting fabric, introducing the refined character of bespoke tailoring into Ballroom couture. Rather than disguising its inspiration, the design celebrates it, creating a sophisticated silhouette that feels both contemporary and timeless.
The tailoring influence continues through carefully selected Blue Stripe Cotton, used to create sculptural three-dimensional detailing around the neckline and to introduce unexpected movement within the underskirt. These contrasting fabrics work together to create depth, texture and visual interest from every angle.
Perhaps the gown's defining feature is its dramatic statement puff sleeves, which transform into elegant Ballroom floats. Their architectural shape frames the dancer beautifully while adding striking movement as the couple glides across the floor. The effect is both bold and effortlessly elegant.
To complete the design, the gown is decorated with Light Sapphire and Light Sapphire AB crystals, introducing delicate sparkle that complements the blue accents without overwhelming the garment's refined aesthetic.
Designed by Svetlana and handcrafted in DSI London's Made in London workshop, the dress perfectly demonstrates how traditional tailoring, innovative design and couture craftsmanship can combine to create something genuinely distinctive.
